Current Location: Denmira
Much has transpired since my last entry. Due to a misunderstanding between myself and Goldtooth, I assure you I did not know he wore a powdered wig; it is indeed very old-fashioned of him. In any case, I learned there is, in fact, a difference between prisoner and guest in Tolaguna, and I spent the last 7 months in the lower decks of a ship without access to any writing device in which to record my thoughts.
Fortunately, a member of the Counselor of Arden recognized me—thank you, father, for sharing a likeness with me—and pleaded for my release. Though the conditions were harsh, I did learn much about recent world events prior to being dropped off here in Port Royal once again.
Apparently, Lord Kensico of Orland is this new Emperor, and he has declared all the northern realms under his rule. Even now, his army marches on the doorstep of Arden, the last stronghold of the north and the largest land route into Denmira, albeit a mountainous one. While I was in Tolaguna, the crown Princess of Arden was kidnapped by the Emperor and is being used to force Arden to surrender. The Orland navy has been dispatched in full force, blocking all access to their shores. Not even the Pirates are strong enough to get through that blockade.
In Denmira, all seems relatively normal. The Queen has still made no public appearances and made no comment on the current affairs. People are naturally anxious; though Denmira is well fortified, I do not think it could resist a united northern attack. Rumors abound everywhere; some say Orland has already conquered Denmira, others that the Queen and the Emperor are in league with one another. I have seen no evidence to support either theory, but the Queen’s continued absence is concerning.
Days Later
I have just received a letter from my father this morning. As always, he has requested I give up this foolish endeavor and return home. Aside from his criticisms, he informed me that he had recently been to the court of King Armstrong of Arden. It is indeed true a treaty is being drafted that will make Arden a vassal of the Emperor. More curious was the appearance of Princess Liliana, who apparently is the same as the famed Pirate Queen I have been seeking. Sadly, more elaboration was not given, but I have decided to take my journeys to Arden.
